The Nissan Sentra compact sedan is lower and wider than before and will adopt a new platform in 2020.

Sitting on the new platform in 2020, the eighth-generation Nissan Sentra made its debut before the 2019 Los Angeles Auto Show. Its new appearance and design features mimic other car brothers in the Nissan series. For example, the brand's iconic "Vmotion" grille is fully displayed, and the overall appearance is consistent with the redesigned Altima and Versa.

Sentra's track width has increased by 2.0 inches, and the height has been reduced by 2.2 inches. Compared with the previous, Sentra looks shorter and has better proportions. In addition, the rear suspension is now independent; the front uses struts, just like before. In addition, Sentra is equipped with a new rack-mounted electric power steering motor, which Nissan claims has improved the feel.

Powering the Sentra is a similarly new 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine. Compared with the upcoming 1.8-liter engine, the power has increased by 20% and the torque has increased by 16%. It is now 149 horsepower and 145 pound-feet. Nissan also hopes to achieve higher fuel economy. The continuously variable transmission transmits power to the front wheels.

Three levels of Sentra trimming are provided: S, SV and SR. Each has a flat-bottomed D-shaped steering wheel, contrasting seat stitching and a series of safety systems such as automatic emergency braking, blind spot warning, rear intersection warning, lane departure warning, rear automatic braking, forward collision warning and High-beam assist. You can also get 10 airbags and rear door alerts to warn you before opening one of the rear doors to enter traffic.

The S or base Sentra uses 16-inch steel wheels and rear drum brakes. But it does have keyless entry, button activation, seven-inch color touch screen, and Bluetooth connectivity. Upgrading to SV can provide you with rear ventilated disc brakes, 16-inch aluminum wheels, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, 8-inch color display, dual-zone climate control, adaptive cruise control and better stereo sound. SR marks the top products of the Sentra series, including all SV products and 18-inch wheels and slightly wider tires (215 inches instead of 205 inches), LED headlights, fog lights and daytime running lights, rear spoiler, Lower body threshold and other aesthetic updates.

Nissan has not announced its pricing, but it can count on the 2020 Sentra to remain competitive with Honda Civic, Hyundai Elantra and Toyota Corolla worldwide. Once we have the opportunity to promote it, we will provide you with a complete review of how it compares to those worthy competitors.
