Megan Martinez Goltz and Helen Aldana strut their stuff at Watsonville Cultural Arts Center during the kickoff event of the second annual BBQueer Fest, a celebration of the transformative art-making power and embodied activism of Queer, Black, Indigenous and people of color. The salsa event, hosted by Alex Santana and Valentina Velasquez, began with lessons for beginners and continued with hours of joyful dancing. BBQueer Fest, organized collaboratively by Motion Pacific Dance and Tannery World Dance & Cultural Center runs through Wednesday with workshops and performances.
