Roger Dubuis just finished its first year as the official timing partner of the 2022 Goodwood Festival of Speed, and it’s hard to imagine a more natural pairing. The Swiss luxury watch brand, known for its racing themed high-performance timepieces is now partnered with one of the great events that celebrates motorsports and car culture.

The 2022 event was held (as always) on the expansive grounds of the Goodwood House in West Sussex, England, June 23 till 26.

To mark this new partnership, Roger Dubuis created the Excalibur Spider Huracán MB, which reflects the dedication to high speed and cutting-edge design of the famed Lamborghini Squadra Corse (racing team), the luxury sports car manufacturer’s motorsport department. The timepiece’s design is primarily inspired by the Huracán GT3 EVO2. This includes the honeycomb motif made famous by the supercar, with its hexagonal dashboard paralleled in the shape of the caliber.

Built like an engine, the caliber’s twin barrels and 12-degree tilted balance wheel are designed to represent what is considered the signature movement of the Lamborghini Squadra Corse. When viewed from the back, the skeletonized movement reveals the 360-degree oscillating rim weight. This reproduces the same speed effect of a Huracán wheel rim. The crown is inspired by the racing nuts of the Huracán GT3 EVO2 and is paired with an upper caliber strut-bar bridge design found on the Lamborghini V10 engine.

The 45-mm diameter case, bezel, and crown is made of white Mineral Composite Fiber (MCF), an extremely lightweight material developed by Roger Dubuis. This lightness and sturdy structure enables Roger Dubuis watchmakers and designers to create intricate designs for the timepiece.

The MCF is embellished in green, red and yellow, again to reflect the design of the Huracán GT3 EVO. The same shades are also found on the rubber strap, which is completed with Roger Dubuis’ Quick Release System.

The timepiece is limited to 88 pieces.
