Schoolgirls-turned-alt-rock sensation SCANDAL flaunts three new signature instruments in partnership with guitar production giant Fender. The Haruna Telecaster Boost guitar, Mami Stratocaster Omochi guitar, and Tomomi Jazz Bass, alongside a signature leather strap, round up the original designs for the members of SCANDAL, the first Japanese female musicians to sign an endorsement contract with the leading manufacturer. The latest and most luxurious lineup represents yet another milestone for the deepening relationship between the artists and the luthiers.

Haruna Telecaster Boost couples an Arctic White mahogany body with a 22-fret slim “C” shape maple neck, adorned with exquisite Pearloid block inlays, a matching white headstock, and vintage-style tuners. It boasts an aggressive voicing while maintaining impressive note definition from a pair of Shawbucker pickups and a fixed Acousto-Matic bridge.

“I made use of a white and silver finish this time hoping that anyone, regardless of age or gender, would want to hold one,” explains lead vocalist and rhythm guitarist Haruna.

Mami Stratocaster Omochi draws its endearing name from the delectable rice cakes and takes shape of the iconic double-cutaway model that the lead guitarist has described as a go-to in her armory. The bound archtop body sports two Mami Custom Humbucking pickups specially wound for both her heavily distorted and glistening clean tones. Additional features to enhance playability include a satin-finished neck with a modern “C” to “D” compound radius and repositioned volume and tone knobs.

“The traditional Japanese patterning (Wagara) on the pickup covers is my own design! Please pick one up and check it out!” Mami describes.

Tomomi Jazz Bass strikes an impression with its unique Clear Fiesta finish that retains the grains of the alder body and a subtle mint green pickguard. The 60’s style stacked volume and tone knobs finetune the girthy rumble from the Pure Vintage ’64 Single-Coil Jazz Bass pickups, in stylish cream. The bass marries old-school vibes with modern innovations, such as the slim “C” 5-bolt neck with a generous heel cut at the joint.

“It’s powerful yet easy to play. The axe takes the best of both worlds!” Bassist Tomomi exclaims.

The guitars and bass are crafted in Japan, marked with the artists’ signature behind the headstock, and sold standard with a Fender Deluxe Gig Bag. They pair elegantly with the SCANDAL Signature leather strap, available in relic-ed black, white, or brown.

Pre-orders started on June 11 via authorized Fender Japan retailers. Official sales begin later in the summer, on August 21.

Fans can look forward to SCANDAL slinging the new gear on tour. WORLD TOUR 2022 MIRROR commences its North American arm in Toronto on July 9, followed by stops in Berlin, London, and Paris in September.
