DAYTONA BEACH — Welcome to Rockville has announced more than five dozen new additions to the lineup for the four-day heavy-metal festival that is slated to return for its second year in May at Daytona International Speedway.

The newly announced acts — The Smashing Pumpkins, Megadeth, Jane’s Addiction and Five Finger Death Punch among them — augment a roster that already features previously announced headliners Guns N’ Roses, Foo Fighters, Kiss and Korn for the event slated to unfold May 19-22 at the Speedway.

The new additions also include rock veterans Shinedown, Breaking Benjamin, Papa Roach, Rise Against, Halestorm, In This Moment, Seether and Bush, as well as buzzworthy newer acts Mammoth WVH, Dirty Honey, Poppy, Plush and others.

“Welcome to Rockville this past November was truly incredible,” said Danny Wimmer, founder of Los Angeles-based Danny Wimmer Presents, the festival’s promoter. “Our new home, Daytona International Speedway, welcomed us with open arms and our fans showed up in record numbers and experienced an unforgettable weekend.

“We knew we needed to up the ante in 2022 so we went and booked the biggest lineup that has ever been booked for an American rock festival,” WImmer said. “We are so excited to welcome the biggest names in rock for one epic weekend this May.”

Single-day and weekend passes for the 2022 edition of Welcome To Rockville are on sale now at WelcomeToRockville.com starting at $99.50 for single day and $249.99 for four-day passes, not including fees. Passes can be purchased as general admission or VIP, with layaway available for $10 through Dec. 31.

Welcome to Rockville’s debut at the Speedway in November attracted a record-setting crowd of 161,000 over a four-day run that featured heavy-metal headliners Metallica, Slipknot and Disturbed among a lineup of nearly 70 acts on multiple stages on the Speedway infield.

At the same time, it also garnered some unwelcome international attention when Brass Against singer Sophia Urista urinated on a willing fan onstage during the band’s festival performance. The incident didn’t result in any criminal charges. Brass Against is not among the acts on the schedule for the 2022 festival.

There’s equal optimism about its return this spring, said Bob Davis, president and CEO of the Lodging & Hospitality Association of Volusia County.

“It’s an unbelievable, great event,” Davis said. “I thank the Speedway and especially Frank Kelleher, its president, for once again engaging a great, great event. We (area hotels) were sold out and people came from all over the United States. It’s a great shot in the arm.”
